Adult Pyschotherapy

It would be my privilege to be a part of your unique healing journey. I am honored by the opportunity to help individuals find a greater sense of peace, ease, and contentment in their lives. When we are anchored within ourselves, to what we feel and want and who we are, living can become a beautiful and vibrant expression of our true selves. For many of us, our lives are so busy with ‘doing’ that we rarely have time to stop and discover where support is needed. Most emotional wounding happens in relationship, so it is often through a new and reparative relationship that emotional healing takes place and a new concept of relationship takes hold. Therapy creates an environment in which one can take time for oneself, reflect on one’s own life, work through difficult emotions, and gain awareness to one’s own reactions and beliefs in the presence of an engaged and empathic listener. From this place of safety and security, a journey into self-discovery begins to unfold. It is often a bewildering process, and clients find it challenging to articulate how therapy actually ‘works’, but it is undeniable that the process can be transformational. Often, clients learn to befriend difficult emotions, tame overwhelming or destructive ones, and appreciate positive ones. Parts of the brain and psyche that become reengaged learn how to regulate emotions, allowing for clients to feel more stable and integrated. The challenges that brought you into therapy have less of a hold as you begin to consciously create your life, and experience more acceptance and self-compassion in the process.

In essence, my aim is to help clients learn to be with themselves, and to be with others, in healthier, more productive ways. I have an eclectic style that integrates aspects from a variety of theoretical orientations and experiential approaches such as attachment theory, neurobiology, body awareness, mindfulness and self-compassion practices, dreamwork, and psychodynamic theory.
